Dennis- Love the show, but I really think you need to recuse yourself from any discussion regarding Al Franken. We know he's your friend, but...as he entered politics, he is showing a really detestable side to his personality that you are simply writing off as "Al being Al". It does you a disservice.

When people used to say Barack Obama was a Muslim, I wrote them off as nut-jobs. Now I'm not so sure. His choice for the Director of the CIA, Leon Panetta, shows a complete disregard for our security and makes me wonder which side he's on in the global stalemate on terror. We don't need policy wonks running or ruining our intelligence agencies.

So - I loved the JC Superstar day. sent an "official" email. maybe this is better. I think a JC sing off is in order. Maybe a viewing party. A contest possibly? could be good fun. Definitely silly and obnoxious. How badly can one sing "What's the Buzz"? Yes, this is a bit in the past, but the reason I am writing this now is because I am watching the brilliant Ted Neely on TV at this moment. And, well, I had a moment. What happened to Capitalism? Capitalism isn't only an economic system we've selected, it is natural selection. Even in the deepest dungeon of communism it boils down to "I'll give you this if you give me that". Only after the government does it's wealth stealing, skimming, and distributing, the capitalism begins. Even if foreign countries subsidize the auto industry making cars here cheaper our American companies should have competed. If they couldn't then let them shut down their factories and only make cars that can compete with the world market subsidized or not. Even if foreign countries were giving away their cars and products American companies should simply shut down, find something else to do until these countries get tired of giving it away or Americans decide not to purchase them. Government cannot and should not "bail out" any industry. That's what banks and financiers are for. Let Capitalism reign. Capitalism is beautiful. It is the only way unless something better can be thought of. Anything less is letting Joe Biden make economic decisions for you. Andrew in Hialeah

Four thousand of our boys and girls have died in Iraq and Afghanistan. Back home we have record numbers of home defaults falling back to banks and billions of tax payers footing the bill. I would like to see the education benefits of every fallen soldier fall to the spouse any children left behind as well. Does anyone think they haven't paid for it?

In addition to Mr. Carlson, I would also like to launch a loafer at USA Today for castigating the president elect for sneaking an occasional smoke. In the next four years Barrak will suffer more stress than a bi-polar air traffic controller on crank, so let him toke. His addiction to tobacco is one of his best features. His smoking habit also provides something for Vice President Elect Joe Biden to do for the next four years. He can follow the President around and every time he exhales some of the noxious fumes, Joe can inhale them, run out of the room and exhale them out of harms way.

Joe Biden, speaking on a news talk show, stated that he intends to bring the feeble reasoning power of his misfiring small bore intellect to bear on the problem of downsizing the expanded role of vice president as practiced by Dick Cheney in the Bush Administration. It appears that diligent Dick, with his intelligence competency, and patriotism, was allowed too much influence to suit Joe. He wants to down size his own participation in the Obama administration to a viral level appropriate the man about to assume the office. Once the job of vice president is eviscerated and simplified into total irrelevancy, one can hope Joe will grow into it.

We need a new law that puts the entire fortunes of thieves at risk if they steal from others while in any position of public trust. Bernie Madoff and his ilk should be made to cough up all his investments, trusts, homes, cash, his freaking golf tees to make restitution. A judge should have the power to hold him in contempt in jail until all overseas assets are returned for restitution. The same applies to family members receiving assets from him since the date of the first theft. Once convicted and having done time, these thieves should be subject to extensive annual audit for the rest of their lives and have to account for the source every cent they spend. Not that I'm bitter.

Per the This Broadcast interview, I believe the reason you don't see the 9/11 pictures any more is because the liberal main stream press is convinced they helps the Bush administration. They view 9/11 as a one of a kind event which W used to drag us into two wars and subsequently used to frighten the American people into re-electing him and supporting legislation which trampled rights and led to abuses. Reminding Americans about the threat of radical Islam works against Democrats who want to reverse the actions he's taken. Out of sight, out of mind and on to important dangerous things like driving on icy roads in the coldest winter in recent memory to a Global Warming lecture.

It's always makes me cringe when Salstopheles takes over the show for a few minutes and brings it to a grinding halt. It's like an internal combustion engine running at three thousand RPM with no oil. They then call the person they like for the Senate seat and tell her to get out because it's going bad and they will find her another job, she withdraws and good for them. My question, at the time the illegal offer was made Obama and or through his team, did he not have knowledge of a crime in the committing? Why didn't he or they call Ill. or Fed. DOJ and report it? Did they in fact cover up a crime by omission? What's the obligation of the soon to bee president to report a crime?

He was a director in Hollywood from the early 40's through the mid 70's... You've probably seen his early short comedy films on TCM. Among his many credits are the oft quoted Twilight Zone episode "To serve Man" as well as all 168 episodes of "Green Acres" to which he owns the rights. As of November of last year he was trying to revive Green Acres. I'd like to know more about this project. It sounds like a winner to me if they plan to take the same tongue in cheek/through the looking glass aproach to today's "Green" movement. Dennis, I'm very torn about how quickly the Walmart Tragedy is already fading from the news this weekend. Its an incident that helps explain our financial crisis due to the loss of trust in our society in all directions. It's aftermath shows our ability to "white-wash" everything that's unpleasant by changing the subject on that which is uncomfortable. Its every bit as evil as terrorism, and in many ways more so because its "casual evil" that just comes out unexpectedly without any pre-mediation. Its very much in the same callous evil vein as the Sarah Palin Halloween gag except with permanent tragedy for a man and his family and freinds. Someone needs to speak out on this and get to the full root about how this type of thing happens in our great country. It needs to be examined from Walmart's perspective, the police/fire department perspective who allowed 2000 people to congregate unsafely, and the shoppers who collectively murdered this man. To vent my frustration on this, I created this horrible imagery to keep the flames stoked on this subject. My point is that people need to condemn this event with the same fervor that they condemn terrorism. To not do so is hypocrisy of the worst kind. http://picasaweb.google.com/nonprofitthinktank/PoliticalSatireFromNPThinkTank#5274775396054329170 -Paul Levy Executive Director The NonProfit ThinkTank?

Sal's Futterman bit brought back memories of my dad and the clothing business. He was a sales promoter helping small business people put on large scale sales to generate operating cash in the 60s through 80s. When I got out of the military in 1971 and got my first professional job, he took me to the clothing wholesalers in the garment district of Los Angeles. I was consequently outfitted with a wardrobe of those infamous double knit polyester jackets, pants and suits that dominated the day. I eventually looked like a polyester Chia Pet as they snagged, of course. These guys in the wholesale district were primarily Jewish, Lebanese and Armenian, Futterman prototypes. Fast forward to this year when I needed a new suit. I went to a store and ran into one of these old time sales pros. He was in his seventies, snappy dresser with suspenders etc. A professional taking real pride in the fit, quality, not letting you go until it was right. This great old guy gave me a step back in time and fond memories of my dad. Some sadness at another part of America I experienced, now disappearing. The replacement seems to be Suits made in India sold at Costco.

You were talking about Margaret Sullavan today (from The Shop Around The Corner). Interesting note: She was married to Henry Fonda for a couple years in the early Thirties. And was married briefly to director William Wyler as well. Her son, William Leland Hayward, was one of the producers of Easy Rider. And, also of interest: Sullavan suffered from depression and a congenital hearing defect in her left ear called otosclerosis that worsened as she aged, making her more and more hard of hearing. On January 1, 1960, she was found dead in a hotel room in New Haven, Connecticut, having succumbed to a deliberate overdose of barbiturates at the age of 50. (Her daughter Bridget died nine months later from an overdose.) Her daughter, actress Brooke Hayward, wrote Haywire, a memoir about her family. It was made into a television movie starring Lee Remick.

I want Obama to do great also, even though I thought John McCain would have been one of the all time greats. But if Obama fails we all fail. I also thank Bush for keeping us safe. And I am not going to be like the democrats, Bush never had a chance they were cruel from the beginning, but I am going to give Obama a chance, and support him. God I love this country. And you give me hope that people are good and fair. Thank Dennis for all that you do

After all, a lot of good folks are pinning their hopes on this guy. But right out of the box we get Rahm Emanuel? In the dictionary under the word, 'idealist,' his picture would be below the heading Antonym. Now that the die is cast, I was hoping that the sleaze could continue to remain quietly buried here in Cook County where we're inured to it, but the choice of a man whose name has been associated with the words, "has not been charged with any wrongdoing," is not a comforting start. Though it hasn't yet been demonstrated that Barack Obama can actually walk on water, so far he's been able to steep in a cesspool without anyone noticing the stink. His mesmerizing aura distracts from what is all too familiar to folks from here: mountains of cash from nebulous sources, too many fraudulent voter registrations to be practically challenged, intimidating all opposition, and stonewalling the press. What's still to come are sops tossed to the voters to secure their fealty, rule changes cementing a lasting hold on power, and well-connected snouts gorging themselves at the federal trough. In Chicago, we don't get to vote for "nobody nobody sent." Those doing the sending then extract payback for their pains - the local definition of spreading the wealth. What's left for us is the privilege of picking up the tab. Ba-rock on through, ba-rock on through, yeah, yeah, yeah..." Actually, it would probably come off as a cheap political stunt to look hip because Obama actually seems a little stuffy to me. But then Joe Biden could take the mic and belt out an impassioned "Mr. Mo-Joe Biden, Mr. Mo-Joe Biden, got to keep on Biden, Biden, Biden..." I think that this is an important aspect of the Bush presidency that may never be appreciated. A recent book (can't remember which one) discussed the problem with preventive political leadership by using an imaginary scenario about a congressman who enacts a law to toughen access to airplane flight decks in the summer of 2000. As this prevents 9/11 his contribution to the safety of the US is completely unknown. I believe this is how one needs to view the Bush presidency on defense. Just don't get me started on spending... He's 31 years old, his lip is quavering...he's just barely hanging on emotionally...saying that he's being treated well, even though we know he wasn't, and sending his love to his wife. Very touching. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvcuEqGUwmc Chuck in Central Ohio check out my Sarah Palin facts MP3: http://chuckbrown.com/sarah-palin-facts.html

Dennis Since gas prices are lowering, is this the reason why we have Brazilian Black Bean Soup for today? You were great on Officer O'Reilly last night. Ciao, Maryann from Hoosier-land

Mr. Miller, Thank for the Dennis Miller Radio Show. I have enjoyed your work for many years, especially the HBO Rants. You are, in my opinion, the consummate, entertainment professional. The Dennis Miller Radio Show is equal to the Rush Limbaugh Radio Show, and a step ahead of The Hannity Show. As for Mr O'Reilly, you are "hands down" the winner. Please continue the "Upper Crust" Miller Radio Show, for you have passed the "Acid Test." Wayne P.S- And the critics implied that you had " Bitten off more than you could chew." Ha! How wrong they were!

Dennis, I enjoyed your interview with Mike Allen of Politico.com. People like him and his ilk would rip someone they interviewed for hours if not days on their media over a mispoken answer or a view of an issue they did not support. So this guy gettin' all bent out of shape over a question you put to him is laughable. Hey Mikie it ain,t that easy to look and sound so cool when you are on the crappy end of the stick, and have trouble thinking think on your feet. Probably need to stay with thinking on your butt in front of a keyboard where you can take your time, then let the editor finish your thought for you. Dean

Dennis, you were in the wrong in your exchange with Mike Allen of Politico.com. The exact transcript of his words were, "But to go back to your question about ... what, uh, Democrats have learned, I think that, uh, we're going to see a very, ... we're going see a lot of surprises..." and, in keeping with his comments earlier in the segment, it was clear to me that he was about to say, in effect, "... WE'RE (meaning he, you, me, and the rest of the country) going to see some changes ...". I am a conservative McCain/Palin supporter, and a faithful listener to your show, but I listened to this several times, and it is very clear that you siezed onto what you thought you heard, and then were so proud of your little Stephanopoulos-esque "catch" that you stopped hearing what he was saying. And, as to his reaction, I think he was so taken aback by your subsequent dogged attack on his objectivity that he simply couldn't process such a sharp vear away from his line of thought. Gotta say, a little heavyhanded, and a bit of a poker tell. I think you have heard some comments from Politico.com recently that have sounded a little left-leaning, and you were looking for something. And I would have been a little peeved to have my objectivity questioned so fervently on a national radio program as well.

Just listening to the podcast from today. Ouch! --that interchange with Mike Allen was painful! I hate to say it, Dennis, but I think you heard him wrong. Referring to Democrats, he said "We're going to see a lot of surprises. . ." The "we" was referring to us -- all of us who watch the political scene. He definitely was not referring to "we, the Democrats." Listen to it again. You did jump on it pretty aggressively, and when he laughed and said "No, that would be the fantasy of some of the media, but that's not what I said . . ." you got very defensive yourself and accused him of not 'fessing up. I think at that point he got rattled and couldn't remember the point he had started to make. I continued to go downhill from there. I love you, Dennis, and i've listened to your show from day one, but that definitely was not among your good moments. You really owe Mike an apology. Karen from Sheboygan

Dennis, I am freaking out about my retirement. I have lost a lot and Obama's taxes scare me to death. Do the Democrats have any empathy for people with retirement accounts? Americans for Tax Reform make the case clear with the widget at the link below. Take a look at it and please share it. Maybe you can interview someone from American Taxpayers for Reform. http://www.atr.org/get401kcalc.html

i disagree with officer mark, respectfully. dennis, your beefy interactions with sal when you disagree are a great example of how debate is done. it is one of the hidden strengths of your show that your sidekick is so far from you politically,(respect to sal as well), and that the differences get a little gnarly at times. makes for great radio.

Dennis, I think that the real problem with McCain is that he knows how to beat Republicans, in the primaries you play to the center right to pick-off any independent or "soft" party members. But, he doesn't know how to win a general election. He is completely incapable of differentiating himself from "The One." The only ideas he has left involve saying the opposite of whatever the Messiah is saying on a given day.

Dennis, I keep hearing John McCain say over and over; "IF I am elected President". I hear Obama say over and over; "WHEN I become President". McCain needs to change his wording! This may seem like a little thing, but those undecided voters need to be CONVINCED! Sounding Presidential is part of becoming Presidential. Someone needs to tell John McCain that he has GOT TO sound like he WANTS, DESERVES, SHOULD BE and WILL BE PRESIDENT! He isn't going to accomplish this by politely asking permission. When Sarah Palin speaks, people BELIEVE! John needs to make people BELIEVE that he WILL be our President! -Deb in Alaska
